Stockton Scholars

In 2018, The Anthem Group collaborated with Stockton Scholars in Stockton, CA to assume the production, planning and logistics of its inaugural launch and media event. Stockton Scholars’ mission is to eliminate the financial barrier preventing Stockton youth from attending college. With an initial $20 million gift secured to launch this campaign, Stockton Scholars is building a $100 million endowment to make higher education more affordable and attainable.

Anthem spearheaded all logistics and operations to coordinate an event with a multitude of moving parts: high-profile speakers, multiple performances, 600 invited students and hundreds of additional attendees ranging from national media, local community and a spectrum of VIP guests. In addition, Anthem created an on-site college fair and coordinated the event’s national press conference. Anthem was appointed the liaison with the venue, orchestrated the run of show, designed the layout for the event, executed décor for the entire venue, optimized attendee flow, managed personnel and volunteers, advised on creative elements, coordinated audiovisual and lighting needs and organized the press/media conference.

In addition, Anthem’s on-site team developed seating arrangements for the several hundred invited guests, registration, creation and coordination of credentials and handled movement/assisted in security of high profile figures. The team also utilized its strategy experience not only for all aspects of event creative and logistics, but in the main presentation and talking points for speakers.

The Stockton Scholars’ launch event was the unveiling of the largest educational initiative in the City’s history, to-date the biggest program for Stockton’s Mayor Tubbs and was showcased to national media. As a result of the successful launch event, and continued efforts of the Foundation’s team, the Stockton Scholars program continues to receive consistent media attention well after its launch.

Following the successful launch event, Anthem is now orchestrating a national fundraising campaign with the Foundation, compromised of dinners, cocktail events and additional functions, including a capstone gala. These events will vary greatly in theme, size, venue, operationally and will be executed across the United States, including Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago and San Francisco, with the annual gala held in Stockton.
