Flexibility is a trait often over looked, but an important one to possess. It allows you to connect with different personalities, adjust quickly to changes, and gain more experience.
Being able to bend and adapt easily to a number of personalities and work styles allows you to create relationships with a wide variety of individuals. This in turn, has the potential to open new doors and present new opportunities for success further down the line.
When working on a project, there are often times when things do not run smoothly or according to plan. Flexible team members will not become flustered but will remain calm, allowing them to problem solve more effectively and efficiently. It is imperative to not let bumps in the road hold you back. Rather, you must process and fix the issue carefully and quickly so that the project can move forward successfully.
There are times where flexibility can be mistaken for pushover-like qualities. However, it is important to realize that being flexible and being a pushover are two very different traits. Being accommodating for others can help bolster relationships, but it is critical that you do not let others take advantage of you. If you’re ground with confidence and continue to adapt to any situation, you will ultimately be more successful.
Sometimes being flexible may push you out of your comfort zone, but having this skill in your tool kit will only help you move closer to achieving your final goals.
