Most anyone that knows me, knows that I have an affinity for Scott Weiland, the former front man for Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver and contributor to some of the greatest music created. My connection with Scott is both personal and professional – last night, a great musician, artist and friend to scores of people passed away. His life’s passion and creations have touched an immeasurable amount of us.
While I was already a fan of his music and him as an individual, attending one of his more famous performances changed my perspective, understanding and interest in live entertainment, large-scale events, concerts and festivals. I was too young at the time to take immediate action, but the effect and influence lingered with me. Years later the lasting result is The Anthem Group, the company’s trajectory and the foundation of my career. Coincidentally, quite some time after this performance, he and his team were the first to offer work with my then upstart company on its first truly major project.
Scott and his talent will be forever important to me – and that influence is imprinted on all of Anthem. Not to mention, he embodies a true artist and will not be forgotten.
